If you are considering purchasing an electric dog fence, then you should locate some reviews for them online.  Before you buy into a specific product, take a good look at who is providing the review.  The truth is that any commercially available system is pretty good.  Since they work with electricity, they have to pass certain standards; the differences are usually related to convenience and size.

Will it fit Your Dog?
The first question to ask is whether or not the particular system can accommodate your animal.  Some systems are designed for small dogs and others for larger dogs so it is important to get the right one.  You should be aware though that no system is meant for a dog younger than six months, so if the review or description of the product says that it is okay, then you should look elsewhere.

Will it fit Your Yard?
Before you start looking at systems, you will need to measure the area you need enclosed.  It is usually possible to get additional wire if you need it, but it is better to be prepared before you go out to set up the fence.  If you have enough wire and the transmitting station can make it inside to an area that has a plug available, you should be fine.

Can it accommodate more than One Animal?
If you have multiple pets you are going to want a system that will work with all of them simultaneously.  You can usually purchase several receivers that will work on the same frequency and manufacturers make it easy to do that when you make your initial purchase.

If all these questions have been answered in the review you are perusing, then you have found a good review.  Try to get customer feedback as well before you buy as that will be the most accurate information you get.
